Case Study 4

Determining the optimal size for communal areas in vacation resorts, and elaborating a model for future constructions.

CONTEXT

This large luxury vacation resort operator was in the process of opening new ski resorts to support its move towards more premium offers. Following the latest opening, the company wanted to assess the size and structure of common areas in order to inform future resort developments.

SOLUTION

Wx offered a combined on-site UX study and IoT based occupancy measurement solution. The UX study, at peak occupancy time, was focused on observations and user interviews to uncover the intricate link between space and consumer satisfaction.

The IoT solution deployed was specifically created for this client to ensure quick turn-around and minimal intrusion.

BENEFITS

Through this study, Wx was able to demonstrate that as much as 50% of the common area space could be saved in new resorts (amounting to millions of Euros of savings in development and operation costs), while improving overall guest satisfaction. Additionally, this study uncovered the potential for future IoT solutions that could improve overall guest satisfaction even further.
